IC INFORMATION
Name: Yuki (legally Yukito Orikasa)
Canon: IDOLiSH7
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Appearance: LINK; 5'10", long silver hair with a white streak, thin dancer build (doesn't really work out). Frequently seen wearing his repeat symbol ring on his left hand.
Canon point: End of Main Story Part 5
History:
- Born Yukito Orikasa, to parents who owned/ran a jazz cafe. Learned guitar as a child from the regulars at the cafe.
- In adolescence Yuki and Banri formed a group called Re:vale, who began as a band with guitars and a pop-rock feel. They later became idols to avoid having backing band difficulties (caused by Yuki's pickness).
- During this time they met Momo, who went from super fan to super helpful roadie-type guy after he defended Yuki from some people who wanted to beat him up on stage over something Yuki shouldn't have said.
- Re:vale were approached by Takamasa Kujo, who wanted to produce them and make them famous idols. They declined his offer.
- Banri was injured pushing Yuki out of the way of a falling stage light. Banri was hospitalized; Yuki blamed himself.
- Kujo offered to get Banri's scarring fixed if Yuki signed himself over to him. To avoid this, Banri disappeared, leaving behind a note but no trace otherwise.
- Yuki was despondent, and didn't really have the will to do much.
- Momo persistently visited and begged him to perform again, with him. After a straight month of begging, Momo broke Yuki down and they teamed up, also under the name Re:vale
- They lived together in a tiny apartment and scraped by as they found their way up from the bottom.
- Prior to the start of the game story, they win several major awards and become the darlings of the idol industry.
- Re:vale are introduced in part 2 of the main story of IDOLiSH7, where they're planning a concert at Zero Arena and are acting as mentors of sorts for the younger idols.
- They invite groups TRIGGER and IDOLiSH7 to perform with them.
- Over the course of this there is Some Drama over them performing the legendary idol Zero's song, but it all culminates in Momo losing his voice and being unable to perform for a while.
- Yuki of course is worried, but can't express himself and his feelings properly. He's also intensely searching for Banri in the background.
- It comes out that Momo fears a 5 year limit on their partnership, and that five year anniversary is nigh, so Momo thinks Yuki is going to ditch him and try to team up with Banri again.
- In response to some shenanigans by their kouhai, Yuki goes OFF about how much he cares about Momo... And then is suitably embarrassed! But the marriage is saved.
- And then. Banri shows back up.
- Yuki tries to mend things with Banri to very poor success, as Banri appears to want little to do with him (and is working as a manager for IDOLiSH7/Mezzo").
- In Part 3 of the story, there's a whole conspiracy to destroy the idol industry, beginning with one of the idol groups central to the story (TRIGGER).
- Over the course of Part 3, it's revealed that there's another agency (and one specific guy, trendy new idol group ZOOL's manager Ryou) doing all the dirty work to make TRIGGER look bad.
- Re:vale take over a 24 hour marathon with a plot to get support for TRG again, and it works!
- Yuki has particular friction in this arc with IDOLiSH7's Yamato, as Yuki knew him (sorta) when he was a child and networked with Yamato's father, and Yuki has pressured him multiple times before over his secret familial ties.
- Yuki definitely rescues Momo from some thugs who are trying to murder him and definitely does not just recite kitchen spices.
- Re:vale actually smack each other and get a lecture from their manager, which is only being mentioned because it's a really funny scene.
- Re:vale are still at it in Part 4 trying to shut down Tsukumo Ryou, the guy behind TRIGGER's downfall.
- Yuki advises i7's Sougo on his songwriting and shows his Big Mentor Energy -- only he's kind of rude about it, as he's... Yuki
- Ryou starts a rumor about Yuki's past, then sneaks the "Yuki had a former partner" bombshell to the media.
- Yuki and Momo's anti-Ryou plans start to fall apart because of this, and Yuki grows increasingly worried about protecting what he cares about, to the point of even crying in front of TRIGGER.
- Yuki and Momo end up calling out the media before a guerrilla live.
- Re:vale later are honest about their feelings, with Momo handing Yuki lyrics to write music for. This begins the new trend of Momo being Re:vale's lyricist, while Yuki composes the music.
- In the end, Ryou is apprehended, Re:vale wins the yearly Black or White music award.
- Re:vale aren't terribly present in Part 5, being that they get shipped off to a deserted island together to ostensibly write an album while being tailed by a film crew. Which works, remarkably!
- They begin to see themselves as overshadowed by IDOLiSH7, which isn't a bad thing, necessarily.
- Finally, they're drawn into an industry reformation plot by ZOOL's new manager, their agency owner, and other agency owners, which is still mysterious but obviously going to cause shockwaves in the idol industry.
Personality answers:
- Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?
Undoubtedly, Momo. Momo became Yuki's partner out of his own desperation to not lose what he loved: Yuki and his music. Despite agreeing to partner with him, Yuki still held on to his partner's memory and let himself be mired in dark notions of his own place in the world. Not only did Momo bring him out of that dark place with steady kindness and enthusiasm, but in later times, Yuki manages to finally find his own emotional vulnerability thanks to Momo's place in his life. He learns to trust someone else with his music, allowing Momo to write lyrics for their songs. I tend to think of it this way: The only person worth crying over, to him, is Momo. Prior to Momo's influence, Yuki was callous to a fault, and he wouldn't admit to his weakness for anything. Now, he can show vulnerability just a little easier to the people he trusts, and he can speak a little more easily from his heart. Yuki isn't a character who tends to grow by leaps, but by subtle, small changes in his behavior that show the true kindness and care he holds inside. He'll always be grateful for Momo's influence on that front, even if it's painful. Momo is forever the other half of the true Re:vale, and Yuki's most beloved and trusted person.
- Explain which event in canon is most pivotal to your character's development, and who they are today.
Prepare for a controversial opinion! While Banri leaving and the subsequent fallout shaped a younger Yuki and catapulted him to Momo, I would always argue that the current Yuki in canon was most significantly impacted by Ryou targeting him and holding the specter of old Re:vale over his head. Ryou threatened to expose that Momo wasn't Yuki's original partner, among other accusations. Yuki, instead of reaching out for help right away, internalized this to the point that he even broke down crying when he finally asked TRIGGER for help and advice. The incidents leading up to the rooftop live with i7 and his confrontation with the media forced Yuki to close the door on his continued lingering attachment to Banri in a very public way, which I firmly believe allowed him to be more emotionally vulnerable and present both for his kouhai and his partner. There's a noticeable change in the authenticity of his emotions after the rooftop live. The most obvious indicator of this is him trusting Momo to be an equal partner, where Momo carried himself as the slightly lesser creative until that point. Yuki firmly acknowledges that Momo and the current Re:vale are his future by putting Banri and the past behind him. While they continue to challenge and learn from each other in Part 5, the rooftop live and all its surrounding events are a major turning point. The current Yuki can address his own emotions better, rather than just relying on someone bailing him out when he says something off or doesn't know how to handle a situation. He may not be perfect, but he's absolutely putting in the work to be a better partner and friend and mentor.
- Your character must live with only one sense for a year. They are allowed to choose. What do they pick? Why? How do they cope?
I think Yuki would pick his hearing. Music is his life, it's in his blood. It raised him better than his parents did and has been part of his soul for as long as he can remember. He wouldn't give up composing in this situation. He has Momo to write lyrics, sing, or even be his eyes... But as long as he can continue to express himself through music, I don't think he'd miss talking or sight all that much. It might be difficult for him to play guitar without his sense of touch, but I think he'd manage with a keyboard or piano-adjacent instrument. Yuki canonically indicates that he doesn't care if people like him, but he wants everyone and everything to love his music. He, for the longest time, drew his only validation from music. Likewise, he has strong opinions on the music of others, and his critique of other musicians has gotten him into trouble more than a few times in the past. I think that music is as important to him as Re:vale in general, but he'd obviously trust Momo to stick around if he lost some senses for a bit. He would cope by diving into composing, possibly take a break from general idol-dom so he doesn't have to worry about potentially getting injured... Then again, he's a pro, so he might not have to be able to see to be able to dance.
- What does your character think about physical appearances? Are they the sort to meticulously primp themselves, or could they not care less?
Yuki is a total waste of effortless good looks, because he doesn't actually care much at all. He thought of being an idol because of his appearance and how it meant he could interact with fewer people professionally... Because unfortunately, once Yuki has an Opinion on something or someone, it's probably going to come out sooner or later. He was always getting in trouble as a younger man for calling things as he saw them, and basically reading even the most popular and gorgeous people for filth, if he felt that way. He was often perceived as a flirt because of his good looks and cool demeanor, only for people to find their own good looks didn't matter at all compared to how he judged their character. He can't brook horrid people, or people who do things for the wrong reasons. People who aren't attractive are totally fine, though. There's a degree of care that he puts into his personal appearance, but it's minimal. Truly, he's an effortless natural beauty, and he knows it. He just also... seriously doesn't care one iota. He's quick to call it like he sees it, throwing out there that someone is cute or handsome or beautiful, but that's fanservice at its core. He doesn't take time to go to the gym, is quite the fan of cooking good food (albeit he's vegetarian), and isn't really troubled by stature. Any care he might take is strictly due to being an idol and having to appear at his best as a matter of course. It's more habit at this point than any special things he's doing to primp or prepare.
Inventory: His favorite acoustic guitar, cell phone, headphones that work with his phone, a metal baseball bat.
Powers/Abilities: No powers/abilities of the supernatural variety. He is a skilled singer, guitarist, lyricist, composer, dancer, and actor, with particular emphasis on composing and acting.

Player Goals: Yuki has a special place in my heart! I actually originally liked Momo more, but as I came to experience more of Yuki (and began to RP as him for the laughs), I discovered the depth of his warmth and kindness. It's fun to play someone who's just a little bad at being a bleeding-heart type, but who cares more fiercely than he lets on. He also can say pretty much anything, which is kind of liberating! To bring him into a game with physical changes isn't too difficult, considering he doesn't usually care (except the bugs... why so many bugs, y'all?), plus there are other actors and musicians in the crew. Added to that, there are many people who are very different from him and come from walks of life he wouldn't ever consider. I think it's fun to explore those connections he can make and expand his horizons at a canon point where his consciousness of sorts is kind of ripe for the expanding. I'd ultimately like to get him to a point where he can take some people under his wing, whether they like it or not, similar to canon.
Soul Choice: Terra! I'm looking at Neoregelia and the sugar maple as his primary planty-things, considering Neoregelia grows on trees (but is not parasitic). I dug deep for like a week on this, but I think he'll take a healer angle... and also give the masses some maple syrup if something horrible happens to him!
